The next big thing being rolled out by Apple might be the newly designed Apple car. The company recently confirmed that it is working on a new driverless car. Designers have even began rolling out ideas of what the new iCar might look like.

After years of speculation, the tech giant finally confirmed that it is “investing heavily” in the idea of a driverless car. Experts at Click Mechanic have come up with five different versions of what they think the new iCar might look like.

Click Mechanic wrote: “These five cars bring Apple classics to life in a way we’ve never seen. From the square like 80s to the smooth and sleek feel of today.”

“Whatever the design of the future iCar, it will be sure to stand as something that looks and performs like no other.”

The five design ideas that have been put out by Click Mechanic include the iCar Macintosh, iCar Air, iCar 7, and the iCar Power.

The rumors that the company would come out with a driverless car have been going around since the company launched Titan, an electric project, two years ago. This project was reportedly staffed by more than 1,000 of the top engineers at a top-secret lab location in Sunnyvale, California.

Project Titan was ended after a number of problems, leaving Apple to now focus on the development of the self-driving cars.

Apple also registered three auto related domain names last year: apple.car, apple.cars and apple.auto.

“The company is investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation,” said the letter from Steve Kenner, Apple’s director of product integrity, to the head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The letter also highlighted the “significant societal benefits of automated vehicles,” which it described as a life-saving technology.

The company said it wants to help define the best practices in the industry of transportation.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has also hinted at the idea of Apple joining the transportation industry.

“And we are always looking at new things, and the car space in general is an area that it’s clear that there is a lot of technologies that will either become available or will be able to revolutionize the car experience.” he said during Apple’s Q4 financial results. “And so it’s interesting from that point of view, but nothing to, certainly nothing to announce today.”

The other giant tech rival, Google, canned its driverless car trial efforts last year. But, Amazon recently dropped hints that it might be on the verge of releasing a self-driving car.
