After decades of makeup commercials showing only women’s faces, time has come to see something a little bit different, and to admit – makeup is NOT only for girls! Manny Guttierrez is a real beauty icon for years; with more than 3 million Instagram followers, he proved himself worthy to be a Maybelline’s cover boy.

“I have always been fascinated with it. As a child, I would watch my mom get ready for work and just sit there for hours watching her transform. However, it wasn’t until much later on that I really started to dabble in makeup myself.”“ Gutierrez told Teen Vogue in 2016, explaining how he gave up dreams of becoming a doctor and decided his only true love was – makeup!
The social media influencer and his fellow blogger Shayla Mitchell encouraged everyone in this campaign for Big Shot Mascara to “lash like a boss” – no matter their gender. The title of the project is THAT BOSS LIFE, and Maybelline announced this collaboration on Instagram with words: “Start the new year off like a boss. The secret project revealed! Watch @mannymua733 + @makeupshayla star in the new #bigshotmascara campaign.”
The cover boy said he is “thrilled to be able to work with a global brand like Maybelline that is recognizing male influencer talent and is willing to shine a spotlight on it.” According to Gutierrez, his mission will be to provide the inspiration for both men and women and to celebrate the beauty. The campaign will definitely promote the inclusivity in the makeup industry, so this will be a huge step – for fashion & beauty standards, and for Gutierrez, of course.
“Still can’t believe I’m part of Maybelline lash campaign… Honestly, it’s such an honor. Thank you for making my dreams come true!” twitted Manny Gutierrez, aka Manny MUA on January 5. Later that day, he added: “Maybe HE’S born with it!”
