Previously, pop diva Mariah Carey was rumored to be romancing one of her back-up dancers, Bryan Tanaka. It was even alleged that he was one of the reasons behind her split from billionaire beau James Packer.
And now, it appears that the whisperings are true. In a recent photo exclusive by Mail Online, the 46-year-old songstress was seen cavorting with her 33-year-old choreographer on Monday at a beach at Maui, Hawaii. This is five weeks after splitting from Packer.
They were “piling on the PDA” at the recent outing, with Tanaka photographed carrying the singer on his back and in his arms. At one point, Carey was shot with one leg up and hooked on the dancer’s hip.
In the wake of the failed romance with Packer, the businessman reportedly called off their engagement due to Carey’s “excessive spending” and also because of his jealousy over Tanaka.
In retaliation, Carey reportedly is demanding $50 million from Packer for her inconvenience, as she moved to Los Angeles to New York with her 2 children just to be near Packer. It was also alleged that the financial demand was influenced by the Aussie mogul’s “financial promises” to Carey during their time together.
It was speculated that the cancelled South American leg of Carey’s tour was influenced by her relationship with Packer, which ended after a fight while sailing around Greece in September.
The singer, however, appeared to be keen on keeping her $10 million diamond engagement ring. She was later often spotted with Tanaka in the wake of the split with her then fiancé.
Some observers, however, suspected that the recent PDA-packed sighting of Carey and Tanaka may be “a ruse ahead of her E! reality show that debuts in Australia on Monday,” considering the strategic positioning of the pair in the paparazzi-shot photos. It’s said that the reality show will also tackle Carey’s crush on her long-time dancer.
Recently, when asked about her breakup, Carey said that things “happen for a reason.” On talk that the businessman wanted to be taken out of the show, even though previews of the “docu-series” have shown the mogul included in the footage, Carey deflected the question, saying that it was difficult for her to talk about it now.
Meanwhile, ex-husband Nick Cannon has reportedly been supportive of the hitmaker, spending Thanksgiving with her and their kids in Hawaii. The pair had split in 2014.
