Campaign launched to “Protect Betty White from 2016”

Betty White’s fan, Demetrios Hrysikos, started a campaign on Go-Fund-Me site to protect the actress from 2016. The day Carrie Fisher died, and shortly after George Michael’s death, the fearful fan decided to protect 94 years old actress – at all costs!

‘’Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty White! If she’s okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe until Jan 1, 2017’’ wrote Hrysikos on the page. ‘’Now, assuming she doesn’t want a strange Greek standing guard outside her door all monies will be donated to the Spartanburg little theater to help craft new stars of stage and screen to carry the mantle of the legends that have left is this year.’’

He said that the purpose of the campaign is to ‘’put a smile back on some people faces and do some good’’. The fundraising goal is set to $2.000, but in 21 hours from the start of the campaign, already 230 people raised $2,491.

The campaign caused many fearful comments on Twitter. One of them wrote:

After the successful start of the campaign, the founder of the page thanked all supporters saying: “I’d like to thank everyone who has donated and shared so far. Thank you so much! I had no idea this would go so far but I’m happy it did…”

“2016 has taken so many great artists and SLT helps support and nurture new budding talent in our town. I’d like to think that Betty, Carrie, and Bowie would be happy with any proceeds going to that cause. We need new artists to carry the mantle of all the great ones we lost this year so keep sharing and donating to ensure a better 2017 for the arts.”

As far as the media know, The Golden Girls star, Ms. White is alive and well, and she is ready to celebrate her 95th birthday on January 17, 2017.
